Pins and Needles Group

Pins and Needles helps socialising through the medium of sewing. The group helps isolated people, those with poor confidence and others with limited language to meet in the same space and get involved in a creative activity together. Conversation between different language groups can be challenging for many people in our community and sharing a common interest has proved to be a great ice-breaker.

The group is often a safe space for people experiencing abuse. Sewing is seen as an acceptable activity by some perpetrators of abuse and participation can help the victim access vital services. It is also a means of gaining skills which can lead to employment and therefore financial independence.
